Focused Time For You

I offer 45 or 60-minute individual therapy sessions, and couples and families 60-minute or 75-minute sessions to ensure everyone feels heard. 90-minute sessions are also an option. And, depending on the situation, I also offer 30-minute targeted or check-in sessions. Therapy is usually weekly, and when you’re feeling better we can meet every other week. You’ll have agreed upon goals to work on in between sessions to gain traction and build momentum in your healing process. When you’ve reached your goals we’ll terminate sessions, knowing the door is always open for a tune-up.

My Goal for You is to Live a Rich, Full, Meaningful Life

Counseling should ultimately be a rewarding experience of self-discovery where you move toward what you value and what is important to you. Your current circumstances are preventing this from happening. As a therapist, I want to help you as a whole person (mind, body, and spirit). I do this by blending multiple treatment modalities from which I have received extensive training.  I work with clients in experiential ways to access the inner world and incorporate mindfulness and self-compassion skills from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, and Gottman Method Couple Therapy. I’m a Christian and welcome people of all faiths or no faith who want to bring their spirituality into sessions, or not. By attending numerous trainings and workshops, I keep current on advances in neuroscience, as well as by reading various journal articles and professional books. With your input, I would like to find what best suits your needs for healing and wellness.

You Want Relief or Resolution of Your Problems FAST

I don't want you to be in counseling forever. My goal as a therapist is to employ methods that will bring you relief as quickly as possible, realizing of course, that it took time for your problems to develop, and it will take some time to turn things around. My counseling is very collaborative, as I want you to be fully engaged in your therapy to ensure the best outcome. I believe every person, no matter their personal history or current circumstances, has unlimited potential. Change is possible for everyone. My name is Kathy Ventry and I LOVE helping people move forward, overcome their fears, and live happier lives!  As a  licensed Marriage and Family Therapist I can assist you with whatever brings you to therapy and am committed to you receiving optimum quality services.

I Offer a FREE 10-15 Minute Phone Consultation for New Clients. Please Call 916-877-6388.

More About Me

I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Santa Clara University. I then served in the military followed by a career in a Fortune 500 healthcare company. During that time I completed a Master of Science in Human Resource Management later followed by a Master of Arts in Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Chapman University. I'm now passionate about counseling children through older adults, couples and families. I’m the former Program Manager for an Intensive Outpatient Program for anxiety disorders. I was trained in Exposure Therapy and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) by a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the International OCD Foundation, and completed training in Pediatric OCD through the Behavioral Therapy Training Institute. I also have extensive training in a variety of health disorders, disease management, medications and pharmacology. I am familiar with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, smoking cessation, and men and women's healthcare issues. When needed, I coordinate care with primary care providers, psychiatrists and neurologists.

My Training

I believe the more training a therapist has, the more tools she or he can bring to the table. I have invested in A LOT of trainings, conferences, and workshops. I do this because I want to have a variety of tools, techniques, and resources to help you feel better and reach your goals. If something doesn't work, we'll move on to something else. I have extensive training in the following: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT),  Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy and Brainspotting for trauma and other issues, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman Method Couple Therapy.
