Fears and Phobias are Distressing

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 5, defines a phobia as a "marked and persistent fear that is excessive or unreasonable, cued by the presence or anticipation of a specific object or situation." Sadly, this means your world has gotten smaller as you avoid what you fear.

Some common phobias include:

  • Heights

  • Flying

  • Crowds

  • Public Speaking

  • Animals

  • Insects

  • Needles (receiving an injection)

  • Seeing Blood

  • Talking to People (social anxiety)

  • Vomiting (emetophobia)
